The "How To" Guide for Blanket Scarves

November is upon us, which means the weather is about to get even chillier. A very popular winter accessory (and one of our personal favorites) is the blanket scarf. Like the name suggests, it is an oversized scarf that feels like a blanket around your neck keeping you warm in the winter. This versatile scarf can be worn with a dress, a nice top and jeans, or even an oversized t-shirt and leggings. To add to its greatness, it can also be wrapped in several different ways. Here are five different ways to wrap your blanket scarf and how to do it:

  1. Everyday Casual – This is the most common way to wear the scarf. First, you put it around your neck with one end longer than the other. Take the longer end and wrap it all the way around your neck, then adjust for the most comfortable feel!
  2. Infinity – Another common scarf is the infinity scarf. The difference between these two is that the infinity scarf is all connected to make a big ring. You can turn your blanket scarf into this just by wrapping it like the Everyday Casual (listed above) and tucking the ends into the part that goes around your neck. Since the scarf is so big, there is plenty of room to hide it!
  3. Poncho – Instead of scrunching the scarf up to put around your neck, like most people typically would, this is the opposite! Start by unfolding the scarf and laying it were it is longest from left to right. If your scarf is a square, simply fold it in half. Next, pick the scarf up by the two corners on top and pull it around your back where it drapes over your shoulders and opens in the front. Voila!
  4. Long & Sleek – This is the easiest way to wear your scarf. You can either fold it long ways or scrunch it up and just put it around your neck. Instead of wrapping it tight around your neck, it is just left long and open.
  5. Show Off – To me, this way is the hardest to get right, but it is so worth the extra effort! First, fold the scarf in half diagonally so two corners meet. Then scrunch the scarf and put a corner on your collarbone area, wrap it around the front, and bring it back around. Next, spread out the scarf so one of the corners is down, then pull the other corner up and tuck it into the part of the scarf that is wrapped around the front of your neck. This style shows off more details of the scarf while keeping you warm!
